Liversedge Vs Guiseley Match Report

Liversedge get their first home league win of the season thanks to a Joe Walton brace.

The hosts took the lead after twenty-four minutes through Joe Walton as his dipping volley from the right-hand side lobbed the keeper and ended up into the back of the net.

From then on, the away side created more chances to try and get themselves back into the match, and evidently, they did so thanks to Jake Cassidy.  The Welsh striker levelled the scoring before halftime by cutting in from the left-hand side and producing a curling shot that found the bottom right corner.

For the duration of the second half, Sedge came out the stronger side and was looking for their second goal as chances came from Walton and new signing Bobby Pointon, but both were unable to capitalise.

With twenty minutes to go, Walton made his second of the game and put his side back in front with a near-post header which was too quick for the keeper to react to.

With late-minute substitutions that featured Josh Barrett and Luke Aldrich, the home side was able to hold out against the visitors and got their first league win at the Staffstore UK Clayborn this season.

With Whitby as their next opponent next Saturday, Sedge will be looking to make it two wins out of two at the Clayborn and get themselves on the path to being out of the bottom four.
