Rimmo’s Rant

Over the last three years we have played them twice in the FA Vase and on both occasions we got a right old thumping, so today we hope we can right some wrongs.

Both times we travelled over to our Lancastrian friends we were well looked after and their management and players were top drawer people.

I have had a couple of rants in the past weeks especially when I get a car stopping in front of me while I was travelling at some speed on me push bike, I can assure you it was a little more than a rant when I was sent flying over me handle bars. A few bruises here and there but nothing broken.

They say a dog is a mans best friend, well I am beginning to wonder after a nasty bite on my hand from my dog, maybe he was a referee in his former life.

Three weeks ago we had a very good win against a very competant Barton Town side who made us work hard, but on the chances we created we should have been well clear at the end.

The other Saturday we played the first of our local derby grudge matches away at Eccleshill Utd, the pitch is great but I am not a fan of them, it was great that we came away with a win and our first clean sheet and 4 goals. Once again though it could and maybe should have been more but we were generally happy. We had to change our starting line up and the lads who came in were fantastic, Adam Porritt was almost back to his best and his set pieces were very good, all in all a good day at the office.

On Tuesday we travelled to Athersley Recreation for a league game, I thought at half time we could have been 7 or 8 goals up quite easily, we scored 4 goals, missed a penalty and missed numerouse chances to score more. In the 2nd half credit to Athersley they changed their system and didn’t give us as much room to play closing us down more. It was 3 more points at the end of the day and that’s what matters.

Hopefully everyone stays safe and we are still in the FA Vase come 5pm tonight.
