Welcome to Liversedge, Casey Stewart! Exciting winger joins following Yorkshire Amateur exit

Liversedge FC are delighted to announce the signing of highly-rated winger Casey Stewart.

Stewart joins following his exit from Yorkshire Amateur after playing a big part in what was a successful season on the pitch for the club in the Northern Premier League East Division.

He was an ever-present in the team that finished 10th, making 35 appearances (the third most in the squad) and chipping in with six goals.

The wide-man was developed at i2i Academy where he also gained match experience with Tadcaster Albion in the NCEL as a teenager. From there, he was picked up by Sheffield United’s academy and played for the Blades’ U18s squad.

He returned to non-league football, playing for the likes of Tadcaster and Selby as well as trialling at Harrogate Town, before joining Yorkshire Amateur in July 2020.

He played a part in Ammers’ promotion, scoring 4 goals in the opening 11 NCEL fixtures ahead of the curtailment of the season.

The NPL Premier Division represents another step back up the ladder for Stewart after promotion with Ammers and impressing in the East Division.

On making the move to Liversedge, Stewart said: “It’s a club that has definitely been going in the right direction.

“I played against them twice last season and thought that they were a very good team.

“I already knew Rimmo and he sold me what he wants to do this year and it fits in with my own ambitions.”

Asked to describe what Sedge supporters can expect from him, he added: “I like to excite!

“I’ll run at players, take them on, carry the ball. I get at defenders and technically I’m quite good as well.”

On making the step up to the NPL Premier Division, Stewart said: “I’m confident in my own abilities to step up another division so it was an attractive move. I know what I can do and what I can offer the team next season.”
